Judging Process & Medal Scoring

Wines at the Asia Wine Ratings are evaluated by leading retail buying professionals across Asia — including independent wine merchants, regional chain buyers, supermarket category heads, and key importers who supply the on-shelf channel. Each wine is blind-tasted and scored across quality, value, and packaging appeal, ensuring winners align with real retail-market performance standards.

Medals are awarded according to the final weighted score:

  • Double Gold — 96–100 points
  • Gold — 90–95 points
  • Silver — 85–89 points
  • Bronze — 80–84 points

This scoring system ensures that wines awarded at the Asia Wine Ratings are not only outstanding in the glass but also competitively positioned for sell-through, shopper appeal, and retail success across Asian markets.
