Based in Beijing, he has spent years helping wineries, importers, distributors, and global wine brands develop successful market strategies across China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

With more than two decades of experience in the international wine trade, Cassidy has worked across the UK, North America, South Africa, and Asia. His career spans wine buying, portfolio management, sales leadership, brand development, and strategic consulting, giving him a unique understanding of how wines move successfully from producer to consumer in diverse global markets.

Before establishing Purple Grape Consultancy, Cassidy served as Director of Wine at Pol Roger Portfolio, where he managed one of the UK's leading premium wine portfolios, overseeing sourcing, supplier relationships, commercial planning, and market development. He became a Master of Wine in 2018, joining one of the wine industry's most prestigious professional bodies.

Today, Cassidy advises wineries and wine businesses on market entry, portfolio strategy, distribution, pricing, brand positioning, and consumer trends, with a particular focus on Asia's rapidly evolving wine landscape. His work has helped producers from around the world better understand the opportunities and challenges of selling into China and other key Asian markets.

As a judge at the Asia Wine Ratings, Cassidy brings both technical excellence and commercial insight to the judging process. His extensive experience working with producers and buyers across Asia enables him to assess wines through the lens of quality, value, and market suitability—providing valuable perspectives on the wines most likely to succeed with today's Asian consumers and trade buyers.
