The surname of Conte emerged in Italy around the 8th century. Born in 1910, Antonino Conte owned commercial vineyards in his hometown of Sassinoro, 3 hours drive south of Rome. Since arriving in McLaren Vale, South Australia, with his family in 1953, this enduring and venerable tradition has continued.
