We’re a family-owned winery founded by brothers Matthew and Jonathan (Jonny) Hughes, based at our coastal vineyard in Flowerpot, southern Tasmania. Established in 2011 on the banks of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Mewstone has grown to 5.5 hectares and is now planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling.

Jonny, our winemaker, draws on experience from across Australia, New Zealand, Italy, and Canada. His philosophy is low intervention — wild ferments, gentle handling, no unnecessary additions, and bottling unfined and unfiltered where possible.

Mewstone wines are estate-grown and made entirely from our Flowerpot vineyard. They are defined by precision, texture, and longevity — a reflection of site, season, and structure. Small production, premium positioning, and a deep connection to place underpin the range.

hughes & hughes is our multi-regional label, focused on energy, texture, and drinkability. Sourced from top growers across Tasmania, these wines are wild fermented and carefully handled to retain clarity and freshness. Alongside core varietals, the range includes small-batch single-site and lo-fi releases — bright, modern, and expressive.
